Going Home   Leave a comment

After four fantastic weeks of my parents visiting Australia, today they left Canberra on the long journey home to Ireland. I never realised that today was a Public Holiday (Canberra Day) in the ACT, so I was able to spend most of the day with them before taking them over to the airport for their flight.

Once they had finished off their packing this morning, we took a trip down to the newly developed Kingston Foreshore next to Lake Burley Griffin for a look round the few bars and restaurants that have started to open up in the area. Once my mother had spotted a Thai restaurant along the row of eateries, we had to go into it and had a delicious meal at Chong Co.

Back at my apartment, we loaded up the car and headed to the airport a good couple of hours ahead of the scheduled departure time of the domestic flight to Sydney. I’ve been trying to explain to them that they didn’t have to check in for their flight until an hour before, but I gave up trying days ago. Check-in was a breeze, not surprising considering we were there so early, and seeing as I could go through security with them, I joined them in the bar near their gate for one last drink/coffee before they were called to broad their Virgin flight.

Thankyou mum and dad, see you in July.
