Road Trip Day 11 – New Year Test Match, Day 3   Leave a comment

Sunday, 5 January, 2014

13:30 on day three of the fifth and last Ashes match and England have just bowled Australia out for 276 leaving us the small matter of getting 448 runs to win the match and avoid a series whitewash. Our chances, Slim!

Another word for you, Shellshocked! In the end, it was swift and painless. Bowled out in under four hours without much resistance from the English batsmen. Another word, Glum, on my way home with my tail well and truly between my legs after Australia completed the 5-0 series whitewash.

BTW it was wear pink for the McGrath Breast Cancer Foundation day today. Most of the crowd joined in the fun, including yours truly.

2086+100km in my Melbourne/Sydney road trip and I’m home. The only silver lining to today’s thrashing was that I could get out of the ground early, return to Lawrence and Barbara’s place, pick up my car and drive home before it got dark…
