Road Trip Day 9 – Mollymook to Sydney   Leave a comment

Friday, 3 January, 2014

1810+100km into my Melbourne/Sydney road trip and I’ve arrived at Barbara and Lawrence’s place in Sydney, my base for the next 2/3 nights (depending on the cricket!). I was up and out on a ride around the Mollymock/Narrawallee area at 7am and even got to meet the ex-World Champion surfer, Pam Burridge and her husband as she taught some kids at her surf school on the beach. Continued my body surfing education with Meryl, Kathy and Keith in the sea before watching some of the cricket over lunch back at the house.

It’s only 180km from Mollymock to Sydney by the most direct route, but I took the more scenic coastal route in order to drop into Jarvis Bay and the fabulous Hyams Beach for a walk, then on to Stanwell Park to take in the view from the lookout at the top of the hill.

On the way up I was dismayed to listen to England throw away an excellent start in the Test match to let the convicts back into the game at the end of the first day. Doesn’t look good for tomorrow’s play!
