24 Hour MTB Race   Leave a comment

Saturday, 13th October, 2012

Oh no, I’m well behind on my blog updates, so I’ve decided just to post the pictures with a brief commentary for now in the hope that I’ll find the time to compose the full blog entry.

I found out during the week that there was going to be a 24 hour Mountain Bike Race up on Mt. Stromlo , so for today’s bike ride Glenn and I rode up from the lake to the Stromlo Forest area to watch the start and to see generally what was going on. Just arrived in time to catch the riders on their first lap of the race and then went into the main arena to check out the start/finish area as well as the ‘tented village’.

The actual course consisted of two laps of about 16km each, linked together to make a figure of eight. Someone told us that it would that around 49 minutes for the average rider to do each lap after which they could swap with a team member (if they were a member of a team!) or carry on like the solo riders had to do.
