Birthday Boy   Leave a comment

Saturday, 1st September, 2012

Birthdays are always special, but your 65th must be one of those you either look forward with trepidation or excitement. Today was my dad’s official retirement day and even though he’s been retired for many years, he has been looking forward to getting his hands on his State pension from the UK Government!

After the usual exchange of presents and cards in the morning we took ourselves out for a drive round Canberra to see the sights. We ended up at the top of Mt. Ainslie, which give you a great view down over the top of the Australian War Memorial and down ANZAC Parade, over Lake Burley Griffin and on to the Old and New Parliament houses. All topped off with Red Hill and the Brindabella mountain range in the distance.

We booked a table in the upstairs Restaurant and Cocktail Bar at the Southern Cross Club in town in order to celebrate and as you can see from the pictures below, the money that Aunty Bobbie and Uncle Vin had sent over for the occasion was well spent!

My parents have travelled all over the world before and after their retirement and it’s great to have them both over here with us at this time.

Happy Birthday!
