Up at 04:00 am to catch the plane

Barry calls at 05:00am to take us to the airport.

Meet Kevin at airport, no delays on flight, Virgin Blue, Row three loads of room. Sky bus from airport to Southern Cross Bus station in Melbourne. Free shuttle bus to hotel. Room not ready till 14:00, Breakfast at hotel then walk up to catch free City Circle Tram wait for 30 minutes then told that all terms have been cancelled till after the Australian Day parade. Walk to Federation Square, have a quick look round then watched parade from coffee shop next to Town Hall. Get call that room is ready and return to hotel to check out the room and roof top pool. Return to the tram stop and jump on City Circle tram to do a complete circuit of the CBD. Very busy, falling asleep on tram jump off at the top of St and walk down to Brourke Street to do some shopping. Ciara buys us a coffee from Starbucks (Wow!). Buy Telstra Moblie Broadband (should have this at the start!). Shops close early due to holiday, return to hotel and go out to Chinese meal (too much food) and walk down to Federation square to watch fireworks. On the way stop watch some amazing street dancing by a group of kids on the street. Get to bridge over river just in time to watch Fireworks (good, but not as good as Sydney). Tried so decide to return back to hotel for an early night but stop in Beer deluxe for a drink and to watch some tennis on the big screen.

Just a brief recap of our first day in Melbourne, I’ll expand it all when I get a chance!
